Things are happening again.
We wrapped the year of homeschooling with a meetup and root beer floats for the three kids and our new born at the park with the charter we’ve grown to rely on more than we ever anticipated. I’ve been writing for my wife’s studio, and reading more books than practice on how to be patient with my kids. My oldest has been the test baby for all of my healing. I’m grateful to him for that.
The air’s gotten warmer lately. The funk I’ve been suffering from not being able to throw a leg over my bike and ride into the trees is nearly over as I plan my next local trip and mini writing retreat. The redwoods in Oakland are a favorite for me.
I’ve been looking, writing, deleting, reading, and agonizing over whether I should publish my work on Substack, Medium, Royal Road, and Webnovel. Honestly, I forgot about Amazon. Most of my reading happens on paper or Apple Books on my iPad.
Since the kids can focus more on what they want to create over the next few months and I don’t have to pretend to be a teacher, those movies I’ve been sitting on can finally get some air. All no-budget stuff since I haven’t worked with anyone in the last year.
Can’t really call in any favors, ya know…
Hear me out on this upcoming project I want to make. It’s a bit experimental, but I’ve seen something similar done years back in film school. I want to go out and capture some images, but cut them together in a stop motion-like way. I’ve written a really bad poem that I want to share in video form.
Oh, and I guess I’m going to have no choice but use ai for a bit. Not in my writing, of course. But in place of talent. I have an audio series I’ve been wanting to make for a while, but I don’t have the budget to hire anyone for it just yet. Not to pay them in any meaningful way. I ask for your forgiveness in advance.
